(July 17, 1922 – September 26, 2018) - Harold passed away peacefully in the early hours of the morning with his family by his side, aged 96, at Grove Park Home in Barrie. He is survived by his wife of almost 68 wonderful years, Dolores Caldwell. Harold was a kind and gentle man and lived by quiet example. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his son and daughter-in-law Larry & Marilyn Caldwell, his daughter and son-in-law Cathy McElroy & David Hamilton, and his grandchildren Christopher Caldwell (Ashley), Carrie Havers (Jeff), Scott McElroy (Michelle) and his dear great granddaughter Daneika Havers.

Harold was born in Oro Township at the original Caldwell Farm homestead. He lived and worked in Oro for most of his life. His entire career was spent working for the Township driving the grader – making roads smooth and safe in the summer months and clearing the snow during the winter. Known by everyone, he was a welcome sight on those snowy winter days. Harold was active at Guthrie United Church as a steward and Sunday School teacher for many years until the church closed.

Friends may call at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, on Sunday September 30th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of Harold’s life will take place at First Baptist Church, 550 Grove St. E., Barrie, on Monday October 1st, starting at 1 pm. Visitation prior to the service from 12 to 1 pm. A reception will follow the service. Following the reception, interment will take place at Guthrie Cemetery.

Special thanks to the kind nurses and staff at Grove Park Home for their warm and gentle care over the past few months.
