Passed peacefully at his home in Barrie on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in his 86th year. Loving husband of Ulana “Julie” Myltchenko for 63 years. Honoured father of Alex Brytak (Linda), Liela Siltanen (Martin) and Pollyanna Berthelot (Gary). Cherished grandfather of Adam Siltanen (Vanessa), Jenna Siltanen, Lacey Berthelot, Emily Berthelot, and of the late Ryan Brytak, and great grandfather of Dasha Stirling. Survived by his sister Val Churchman (Alex). Will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends and colleagues. William came to Canada in 1948 from the Ukraine after surviving the second World War and retired from Algoma Steel in 1990. Visitation will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Rd., Barrie on Thursday, July 28 from 7 pm to 9 pm and on Friday from 10 am until the time we celebrate William’s life in the chapel at 11 am, after which we will proceed to St. Paul’s Cemetery for the Order of Committal. Following the burial, guests are invited back to the funeral home for a reception luncheon in the lounge.
