Passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018 at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre with his loving wife Gloria and her family by his side at the age of 91. Predeceased by his parents James and Violet Beaton and sister Jean McIntrye. Loving father of James, Iain and Hugh. Lovingly remembered by his daughter in laws Deb Small and Carla Beaton. Proud and loving grandfather of Kathryn, Margaret and Colin. Ted graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1951, married Dr. Anita Beaton in 1952, then obtained a certificate in Surgery in 1958. He then moved to Barrie to work at Royal Victoria Hospital in 1959. In 1998, Ted remarried to Gloria (nee Span) who spent the past 21 years by his side. He was deeply committed to the community serving on many boards and organizations including, the YMCA, Georgian College, Save the Park Campaign as director, Barrie Minor Lacrosse, and was RVH Chief of Staff. Guests will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 201 Minet’s Point Rd., Barrie on Tuesday December 4, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm., and Wednesday December 5, from 2 pm until the time we celebrate his life in the chapel at 3 pm. A reception will follow on site. If desired, donations in Ted’s memory may be made to the RVH Foundation and are greatly appreciated.
