Passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Center on Thursday September 15th, 2022 at the age of 88.

Rosita will be sadly and greatly missed by Giuseppe - her husband of 59 years – and by her 5 children; Angela (RJ), Rita (Joe), Frank (Bonnie), Giuseppe, and Gianni (Chantel). Cherished grandmother of King (formerly Anthony), Maria, Justin, Christian, Mia (Adam), Dante, Brianna, Madeline, Jackson, Rosa, Domenica (Joey), Estella, and great grandmother of Giavanna, Eyadien, and Rayna.

She is predeceased by her mother Teresa Rugolo (née Macri), her father Giuseppe Rugolo, and by her two brothers Giovanni and Gaetano.  She will also be missed by her ex-daughter-in-law Paula, her many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, family and friends, as well as by the friends and family of her children, to whom she always showed much love, kindness, and acceptance, which she also received in return.

Rosita was born on April 22, 1934 in Santa Lucia del Mela, Sicily, where she also married Giuseppe in 1963 had their first 3 children; Angela, Rita and Frank.  Following this, their young family immigrated to Barrie, Ontario, Canada in 1968, where they were blessed with 2 more sons; Giuseppe and Gianni.  Here, they made their home and she remained for the rest of her days.

Rosita was a full-time mother and this was her greatest joy.  She adored her growing family as they married and had families of their own.  She had a sincere faith and, as the years went on and her health declined, she continued to rely on her faith and love of the Lord.

Visitation will be held at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie, ON on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022 from 7 – 9 p.m., with service to take place in the Chapel on Thursday, September 29th at 11 a.m.  Following the interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, guests are invited back to the funeral home for a reception luncheon in the Lounge.

The family would like to take this opportunity to extend their sincere gratitude to wonderful staff at the Independent Living Services of Simcoe County, and to Nurse Chioma and Dr. McConvey for their kind and personal care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rosita’s memory may be made to CMHA or a charity of choice and are greatly appreciated by the family.
