Finally healthy, Levins races to personal best at world half-marathonchamps

VALENCIA, Spain — Canada's Cam Levins is finally back in racing form.

The 28-year-old from Black Creek, B.C., ran to a personal best time of one hour two minutes 15 seconds to finish 30th at the world half-marathon championships on Saturday.

Levins, who raced both the 5,000 and 10,000 finals at the 2012 Olympics, has been on the mend from foot surgery that sidelined him for the better part of the last two seasons.

Kenya's Geoffrey Kamworor won his third straight world half marathon title, finishing in 1:00:02. Abraham Cheroben of Bahrain was second, while Aron Kifle of Eritrea was third.

Ethiopia's Netsanet Gudeta crushed the world women's record, racing to a time of 1:06.11. Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya was second in 1:06.54, while teammate Pauline Kaveke Kamulu crossed third (1:06.56).

Sasha Gollish of Toronto was the top Canadian in 30th.
