England posts huge win over Canadians at ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

QUEENSTOWN, New Zealand — England had its way with Canada at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup on Saturday, winning by a massive 282 runs.

England, which won the tournament in 1998, ran up a score of 383 for seven after being put in to bat first. Centuries by Liam Banks (120) and Will Jacks (102) led the way with the pair putting on 186 runs for the second wicket.

Medium-fast bowler Faisal Jamkhandi and off-spinner Tiaan Pretorius took three wickets each for Canada.

Canada, which needed to get to the target in 37.5 overs if it was to edge Bangladesh and advance to the Super League portion of the competition, finished 101 all out in 31.5 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Pranav Sharma led the Canadians with 24. Captain Arslan Khan added 21.

Canada dropped to 1-2-0 while England improved to 3-0-0 in Group C of the 12-country tournament.
