ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — Canada captured bronze in the inaugural team event on Thursday at the world trampoline championships.
The Canadian squad featured two-time Olympic champion Rosie MacLennan of King City, Ont., Jason Burnett of Toronto, Jeremy Chartier of Montreal, Michael Chaves of Oakville, Ont., Jacob Cranham of Whitby, Ont., Zoe Lynn Hipel of Aurora, Ont., Sarah Milette of Longueuil, Que., Laurence Roux of Laval, Que., and Jon Schwaiger of Calgary.
The event combines all five disciplines for men's and women's individual trampoline, synchronized trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline.
MacLennan had the highest score in women's individual and combined with Milette for the top score in women's synchro.
"We're really excited," MacLennan said. "It's the first time that we've had a cross-disciplinary team event, so it was awesome to be able to come together and put out some solid routines and end up on the podium."
China won the gold medal, while Portugal took silver.
The event runs through Sunday.
