Canada advances to U17 Basketball World Cup semis with win over Australia

SANTA FE, Argentina — Addison Patterson scored 18 points to lead Canada to a 74-70 win over Australia in quarterfinal play at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup.

With the win, Canada improved to 5-0 at the event.

Patterson, a native of Milton, Ont., was one of three Canadians to score in double figures against the Australians.

Cashius McNeilly added 11 points, while Keeshawn Barthelemy chipped in with 10 points and five assists.

Canada shot 47 per cent from the floor, well above Australia's 33.3 per cent clip.

Canada will face the winner of a game between Croatia and the United States in semifinal play on Saturday.
