P.A. Police arrest 2, seize firearms, drugs during traffic stop

A 40-year-old man faces 30 weapons-related charges after Prince Albert Integrated Crime Reduction Team conducted a vehicle stop Feb. 26.

Police learned that a man was suspected of being in possession of a firearm. They stopped the vehicle and discovered two firearms, methamphetamine, cash, ammunition, Gabapentin pills, bear spray, hydromorphone, a machete, and a knife. They also found Canadian, American and Jamaican currency. 

Police arrested Kevin Ackegan and a woman, 33, who was charged with possession of a controlled substance. She hasn’t appeared in court and her name hasn’t been released yet. 

Ackegan was remanded in custody and has a bail hearing scheduled for March 10 in Prince Albert provincial court.
