EDMONTON — First round draft pick Kailer Yamamoto signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.

Yamamoto, picked 22nd overall in the 2017 draft, appeared in 65 games with the Western Hockey League's Spokane Chiefs last season, scoring 42 goals and adding 57 assists with 46 penalty minutes and a plus-14 rating. He was also named to the 2016-17 WHL Western Conference Second All-Star Team.

The five-foot-eight, 153-pound forward has appeared in 190 career WHL games, with 84 goals and 143 assists and 130 penalty minutes. He has also played in 12 playoff games, recording 10 points (3G, 7A) and 16 penalty minutes.

Yamamoto has represented the United States several times internationally, most recently at the 2016 under-18 world championship. He also played at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and the 2015 World Under-17 Challenge.
