A three-goal performance from forward Evan Vierling led the Barrie Colts past the Frontenacs in Ontario Hockey League action on Family Day in Kingston.

Vierling, a 17-year-old Aurora native who was acquired from Saginaw in a January trade that saw Tyler Tucker and Riley Piercey head to the Spirit, now has 10 goals and 12 assists in 18 games since joining the Colts.

Also scoring for Barrie in Monday's 5-2 win were Victor Hadfield and captain Luke Bignell. Tyson Foerster had three assists, while Bignell, Brandt Clarke, Josh Nelson and Christopher Cameron each had a helper in the victory.

Shane Wright and Martin Chromiak scored for Kingston.

Colts goalie Arturs Silovs picked up the win after stopping 26 of 28 shots. The Vancouver Canucks prospect is 14-10-1-2 on the season.

Barrie now sits in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 25-23-3-2, which puts them two points up on the sixth-place Mississauga Steelheads and nine points back of the Oshawa Generals, with games in hand on both teams.

The Colts are back in action on Thursday night when they host the Saginaw Spirit (34-16-2-2) at Sadlon Arena, with the puck scheduled to drop shortly after 7:30 p.m.
