HURONIA STALLIONS

VARSITY
The Huronia Stallions Varsity team improved to 5-0 with a low-scoring 9-0 victory over the Cornwall Wildcats. With Cornwall threatening in the first quarter, Gavin Wallin made a huge impact on the game with a 15-yard quarterback sack that took Cornwall out of field goal range. The Stallions special teams were able to get two key points in the second quarter on rouges by punter Will McCulloch.
In the second half, the Stallions offence dominated the time of possession. On a key drive, the Stallions were able to execute a fake punt for a first down and later scored the game clinching touchdown on a rushing touchdown by quarterback Justin Winn. Thomas Perri had a great game playing wide receiver where he contributed some key receptions and on defence where he had some impressive pass break ups. On offence, Christian Maciag was the top receiver and defensively, Jordan Travis played an excellent game at boundary corner.
JUNIOR VARSITY
The Huronia Stallions Junior Varsity team put forth their best effort of the season with a 26-0 victory over the Brampton Bulldogs. The Stallions have been improving all year and finally put together a complete game in which their offence, defence, and special teams executed at top efficiency.
The Stallions had several players step up on offence including quarterback Will Howard who fired a 60-yard touchdown pass to Aidan Goss. Payton Plesh continued to impress with several key receptions including a highlight reel catch in traffic that contributed to one of two speedy touchdown runs by running back Lucas Dimattia.
Marcus Tenney was the team’s workhorse churning up the Brampton defence for over 100 tough yards on inside running plays. On special teams, Payton Plesh had two key field goals and Kyle Nesbitt hammered the Brampton returner on kickoff team forcing a fumble inside the five-yard line that the Stallions converted for the game’s final score.
Nesbitt was Huronia’s top defensive player with several quarterback sacks and a great performance holding the edge to keep the dangerous Brampton running backs from outflanking the Stallions defence. In the fourth quarter, Colton Mocon and Eddie Fines stuffed Brampton on a huge third and one attempt that effectively sealed the victory
BANTAM
The Huronia Stallions Bantam team fell to 0-6 on the season after a 41-14 loss to the Brampton Bulldogs. The Stallions next game is this Sunday at 1pm at the Barrie Sports Complex in Midhurst.
