Spencer Shropshire, 14, won the bantam boys division title at the Maple Leaf Junior Tour event this weekend in Bond Head.

An Oro-Medonte teen won the bantam boys division at this weekend’s Maple Leaf Junior Tour’s Team TaylorMade Championship at The Club at Bond Head.

Spencer Shropshire, 14, shot back-to-back rounds of 70 on the par-72 course to earn a five-stroke win over the second-place competitor.

“I feel great about winning, I played very well this tournament,” Shropshire said. “I made nine birdies and putted great which were big highlights.”

At tough moments in a tough competition, Shropshire says he turns his mind to a favourite song.

“I have an 80’s song that calms me down that I have on repeat in my head,” he said.

Shropshire won one of six age divisions at this weekend’s event.

Next up in the tour is the MJT Humber College PGM Series at Woodington Lake Golf and Country Club in Tottenham on Aug. 15-16, 2022.
