GEORGIAN GRIZZLIES

The Georgian Grizzlies men’s and women’s volleyball teams hosted the Algonquin Thunder on Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
It was an incredibly tight game in the men’s game with each set coming down to the wire.
The Grizzlies were able to take the match 3-1 on set scores of 26-24, 25-21, 27-29 and 25-18.
Kaelan Kloetstra had another fantastic game leading the Grizzlies with 15 kills and five blocks for a 20-point game.
The London native currently sits in sixth overall in the OCAA averaging 4.6 points-per-set.
Teammate Gibson Graham (Markham) continues to impress this season as he posted 36 assists, five kills, four aces and four blocks for a 13-point game.
The Grizzlies snapped their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 5-2 on the season as they sit in fourth place in the OCAA east division standings.
On the women’s side it was also a tight game but didn’t go the Grizzlies way.
Georgian battled hard but ultimately fell to the Thunder 3-1 by set scores of 25-15, 15-25, 26-24 and 25-21.
Carina Brooks (Caledon) had a solid game scoring a team high nine kills, three aces and two blocks for a 14-point game.
Teammate Domenica De Francesco (Barrie) had six kills, five aces and two blocks while Sophia Clement (Scarborough) had 27 assists and three digs.
The Grizzlies are now 5-3 on the season and currently sit in fourth place in the OCAA east division standings.
Georgian will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 30 when they host the La Cite Coyotes at the Georgian Athletic Centre. The women’s game gets underway at 1 p.m. which is followed by the men’s game at 3 p.m.
