BARRIE – Adam Kahn shut down the London Majors over seven innings to lead the Barrie Baycats to a 4-1 win Saturday afternoon at Vintage Throne Stadium.

Kahn (1-1) allowed a run on three hits, walking one and striking out five. Brad Grieveson recorded the last six outs for his third save.

Owen Jansen went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, Juan Familia had two hits and an RBI, Tyler Plumpton drove in a run, Carson Burns scored twice and Noel McGarry-Doyle singled twice and stole a pair of bases.

Pedro De Los Santos (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits over seven innings. He walked one and fanned four.

Cleveland Brownlee drove in London’s lone run on a sacrifice fly that scored Austin Wilkie in the sixth inning.

Barrie improved to 11-7, and London dropped to 11-5.

Four-run third enough offence in Leafs’ win

WELLAND – Aidan McAskie’s two-run single capped a four-run third inning and was the difference in Toronto’s 4-2 win in Welland Saturday afternoon.

Justin Marra’s single scored Jose Vinicio to put the Leafs (11-6) on the board, and Marra plated the second run two batters later on Johnathan Solazzo’s ground-rule double.

Dylan Jacober (1-0) went five innings to earn the win. He gave up two runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Adam Marra threw a scoreless ninth for his first save.

Brandon Nicholson went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Jackfish (12-5), who dropped its second straight game at home. Matteo Porcellato drove in the other run.

Chris Boatto (0-2) went the distance in defeat, allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and three punchouts.

Late runs push Royals past Cardinals

GUELPH – Guelph broke open a 2-2 tie with 10 runs in the late innings to beat Hamilton 12-4 Saturday night at home.

Malik Collymore led the Royals (10-7) by going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Dalton Pompey drove in two, Conner Morro had two hits, three runs and an RBI, Ethan Hammond scored three times and drove in a run, and Justin Interisano and Jeff MacLeod each had an RBI. Guelph scored three runs in the seventh and seven in the eighth to pull away.

Emilis Guerrero (3-2) went eight innings for the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

For Hamilton (4-11), Justin Gideon went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs. Tristan Osika had an RBI and Sean Pettener went 2-for-3 with a run.

Jacob Gajic allowed three unearned runs in 1.2 innings to take the loss. He walked one and struck out one. Starter Aaron Duffy gave up two runs on five hits over five innings, striking out nine.
