Santos Arias fans five Welland Jackfish batters over six innings; Barrie hosts Toronto on Thursday night at Coates Stadium

BARRIE – The first-place Barrie Baycats moved to 10-2 on the season after a 7-1 win over the Welland Jackfish Tuesday night at Coates Stadium. 

Kevin Atkinson and Branfy Infante each had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI for the Baycats.

Kyle DeGrace drove in three with a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the first, and Jordan Castaldo singled and scored twice. 

On the mound, Santos Arias (3-0) went 6.1 innings and allowed an unearned run on five hits with a walk and nine strikeouts. 

Greg Marco singled twice for the Jackfish (5-6), who dropped their third straight. 

Tyler Wood (0-1) took the loss, giving up seven runs (four earned) on eight hits with three walks and three strikeouts in five innings.
