The Barrie Colts have acquired forward Tyler Savard from the Soo Greyhounds for draft picks.

The Barrie Colts have made a trade with the Soo Greyhounds to bring in a gritty, point-producing winger.

The local Ontario Hockey League club has acquired 19-year-old Tyler Savard in exchange for a second-round pick (2024 Flint), two third-rounders (2025 Kingston and 2026 Saginaw), and a fourth-round pick (2024 London).

The Colts announced the deal Tuesday morning.

Savard, who participated in the Philadelphia Flyers development camp this past summer, is the son of former NHLer Marc Savard.

The Peterborough native has nine goals and 21 assists, to go along with 70 penalty minutes, in 30 games this year with the Greyhounds. He sat third in points on his team at the time of the trade. He also recorded six points (3G, 3A) in 10 playoff games last season.

Savard, who is in his second OHL season, is listed at six-foot-two and 201 pounds.

“Tyler is someone we identified as being a player who can step into our lineup and make a difference," Barrie Colts head coach and general manager Marty Williamson said in a news release.

"He’s a tough player to play against and has the skill set to go along with it," Williamson added. "We feel Tyler will be a great addition to our team and we’re excited to start working with him.”

Savard was originally selected by the Greyhounds in the 11th round of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection.

Soo Greyhounds general manager Kyle Raftis wished Savard best of luck with his new team.

“Joining the organization as a late-round pick, Tyler made great strides in his game and we thank him for all his efforts both on and off the ice," Raftis said in a release.

The Colts (17-9-4-2, 2nd Central) are in action Thursday night when they host the Ottawa 67s (26-6-0-1, 1st East) at Sadlon Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for shortly after 7:30 p.m.
