The Barrie Colts were on the road last night against the Niagara IceDogs in an important central division matchup.

Tyson Foerster returned to the Colts lineup after missing the previous game to play in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects game, in which he had two goals and an assist.

Arturs Silovs got the start in goal for the Colts last night.

Barrie didn’t waste any time in this one, scoring in the first minute of the game off a point shot from Nathan Allensen. Aidan Brown and Brandt Clarke added the assists.

The first period ended with the Colts leading 1-0.

In the second period it was IceDogs captain, Ivan Lodnia scoring from the high slot with a hard wrist shot to tie the game at one a piece. The IceDogs would continue to pressure, and eventually it was Cameron Butler scoring to break the tie.

The second frame ended with the IceDogs leading 2-1.

In the third period, the Colts had an early chance on the powerplay, and it was Ethan Cardwell burying it to tie the game. Jacob Frasca and Brandt Clarke got the assists.

With three minutes remaining in the period, the Colts were awarded another chance on the powerplay. This time, it was Evan Vierling scoring top shelf from the high slot to give the Colts the late lead. Allensen and Foerster got the helpers.

After that, it was the IceDogs turn on the powerplay, and Oliver Castleman made the Colts pay with just over a minute remaining.

The third period ended in a 3-3 tie.

Overtime solved nothing, so this game needed a shootout.

In the shootout, Ivan Lodnia was the only goal scorer, giving the IceDogs the win.

The final score was 4-3.

The Colts are back in action tonight at home against the Mississauga Steelheads.
