Collingwood Blues 'part ways' with head coach and associate

The news comes on the heels of a previous announcement the team is replacing its general manager

Collingwood’s junior hockey team is doing more than switching its name this year. The team has announced it has parted ways with its head coach, associate coach, and general manager.

The Collingwood Blues announced Saturday the team will no longer be coached by Thomas Milne (head coach) and Darcy Roy (associate coach).

Earlier this week, the team also announced it had “parted ways” with general manager Dermot Anderson and hired Mike Tarantino.

Tarantino was the former Oakville Blades head coach and was named the Ontario Junior Hockey League coach of the year in 2019.

A news release from the team indicated in the cases of Anderson and Roy the decision “wasn’t easy” and the Blues Junior 'A' hockey club wished them both well.

Another news release announcing the departure of Milne included a departing message from the outgoing coach.

“I had a truly amazing experience coaching in Collingwood,” Milne said in a statement.

He thanked David and Christina Steele, who are the team's owners, and the other staff, players, and arena staff for their work.

“I want to sincerely wish Mike Tarantino and his staff nothing but the best,” said Milne. “Collingwood is in good hands with Mike.”
