Cardinals peck away at Baycats en route to 9-1 win in Hamilton

Barrie's record falls to 4-6 with the loss, but they will be back in action tonight when they host Welland at Coates Stadium in Midhurst

HAMILTON – The Hamilton Cardinals snapped a mini two-game skid with a 9-1 win over Barrie Friday night at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.

Cal Brazier went 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI for the Cards (6-5). Josh Niles drove in two, while Tristan Osika and Josh Garton each had an RBI. Austin Wheeler singled and doubled, and Justin Gideon scored twice.

Hamilton's Ben Braun (3-1) allowed an unearned run in 7.1 innings. He scattered three hits, walking three and striking out eight.

David LeBlanc drove in the Baycats' lone run with an RBI triple in the eighth.

Barrie's Hunter Campese (0-2) took the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) on two hits in two innings. He walked four and struck out three.

Barrie dropped to 4-6.
