Baycats drop 'wild game' to the Maple Leafs

Justin Marra homered and drove in six as the Toronto Maple Leafs won a wild 16-13 game over the Barrie Baycats on Wednesday night at Christie Pits.

With 32 total hits and multiple lead changes, the Leafs (12-20) tied the game with four runs in the seventh and pulled away for good with three in the bottom of the eighth.

Marra's blast was a grand slam in the second inning. He added a single and double, while leadoff batter Ryan Santos went one-for-three with three RBI, five runs and four steals. Jonathan Solazzo hit a two-run blast, Grant Tamane had an RBI, Zac Orchard singled twice and scored, Damon Topolie went ttwo-for-four with a solo shot and three runs, Cooper Lamb singled twice and scored three times, and Ryan Johnston added a three-run home run.

Jean Carlos Henriquez (1-1) earned the win with 3.2 innings of relief. He allowed four runs on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts.

Andrew Simonetti started and went two innings, giving up three runs on three hits with two walks and a strikeout.

For Barrie (21-9), Starlin Rodriguez and Kevin Atkinson each went deep twice. Rodriguez finished with three hits, three runs and three RBI, while Atkinson drove in four on a trio of hits while scoring three times.  

Jordan Castaldo went three-for-three with an RBI and four runs, Jon Waltenbury drove in three, Ryan Rijo singled, doubled and scored, Conner Morro had two hits, and Branfy Infante added an RBI.

Adam Hawes (1-1) took the loss, giving up three runs on two hits with two walks and one strikeout. Starter Santos Arias surrendered nine runs (eight earned) on 10 hits in six innings. He walked three and struck out six.
