Every Barrie batter had at least two hits, and the Baycats reached base 31 times in an 18-7 win over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night at Coates Stadium.
Jeff Cowan and Jake MacDonald each had four hits and two RBI in the victory. They combined to score five times. Carson Burns and Ryan Rijo picked up three hits and drove in three runs apiece, Jake Wilson went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run, James Anderson scored four times while racking up three hits and two RBI, Branfy Infante singled twice and scored four runs, Avery Tuck had two hits, two stolen bases and plated a pair of runs, and Marcel Lacasse went 3-for-6 with an RBI.
Andrew Grieder (2-0) benefitted from Barrie's offensive barrage. The Baycats' starting pitcher gave up three runs on seven hits over five innings, walking three and striking out two.
For Toronto, Justin Marra went 2-for-5 with his league-leading 10th home run and drove in three. Sean Reilly singled four times and drove in a run, Johnathan Solazzo picked up three hits and two RBI, Damon Topolie singled twice and drove in a run, and former Baycat Jordan Castaldo doubled and scored twice.
Brandon Lyons (1-2) was pulled with two outs in the fourth after giving up five runs on 11 hits while striking out a pair.
Fifth-place Barrie moved to 11-13 on the season, while Toronto fell to 11-11 and sits tied for third with Welland.
