INTERCOUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE

CAMBRIDGE – The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced its Players of the Week for the week of June 17-June 23.
Riding a seven-game win streak, Barrie Baycats' players took both honours. Third baseman Kevin Atkinson was named Hitter of the Week after batting .600 (9-for-15) during a three-game stretch in which the Baycats scored 37 runs. Atkinson went deep twice and had nine RBI and six runs.
Overall, Atkinson is slashing .417/.482/.792/1.274 in 72 at bats. He's tied for second in the IBL with seven home runs and leads the league with 29 RBI.
Atkinson's teammate Santos Arias was named Pitcher of the Week after going the distance in the Baycats' 10-2 win over Brantford.
Arias took a no-hitter into the ninth before giving up a one-out single. He allowed two more hits and two runs while walking one and striking out six.
In five starts, Arias is 4-0 with an earned-run average of 3.00 and a 1.12 WHIP.
