Three high school athletes from the Barrie area have signed on with the Cambrian College Golden Shield in Sudbury.

Cambrian College announced the signings of new athletes and coaches to its existing soccer, volleyball, and cross-country running teams. The new athletes joining the Golden Shield this September come from across Ontario.

Cambrian also announced it is reintroducing badminton as a varsity sport this year, after a three-year hiatus.

“Welcome to our new athletes and coaches who will be suiting up for the Golden Shield,” says Alison De Luisa, Cambrian’s Associate Vice-President of Human Resources and Student Services. “I want to thank the athletes for choosing Cambrian as their place to study and play, and our entire team of coaches for their dedication and passion for varsity sports.”

Kasia Brufatto of Alliston and Quinn Eggleton of New Lowell are joining the Golden Shield women’s soccer team.

Jordan Phillips of Barrie will play for the women’s volleyball team.
