The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka has partnered with the Beausoleil First Nation to offer a “nature-based” day camp located at Springwater Provincial Park in Midhurst, Ontario.

As the result of an agreement between the Beausoleil First Nation and the Province of Ontario, Springwater Provincial Park reopened to the public last summer.

The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka will now be using this beautiful land to teach children about the importance of nature in a unique and affordable way.

“We are so pleased to be partnering with the Beausoleil First Nation and Springwater Provincial Park to offer children and youth a rare opportunity to experience day camp at a Provincial Park,” said Cam Norman, General Manager, Day and Overnight Camping, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. “The kids will have an opportunity to get connected with nature, take on new responsibilities, gain independence, and create new memories, all while being surrounded by nature. It’s a great way for kids to unplug from technology and explore the outdoors.”

All YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka day camps focus on impacting the social-emotional, cognitive and physical development of all kids.

From July 4 to September 2, campers at Springwater Provincial Park will participate in nature-based weekly themed activities, teambuilding, arts & crafts, sports, swimming at a local beach and more. The new camp will accommodate children ages 6-12.
