Woman found asleep behind the wheel, charges laid

On Wednesday, March 9, 2016 just after 6:30 p.m., police responded to a call for a women that had been passed out behind the wheel of her motor vehicle while parked in the Tim Hortons parking lot on Essa Road, in the City of Barrie.

Further investigation found the women to be impaired by drug, and in possession of crack cocaine and heroin, both under 1 gram.

She was also wanted on two outstanding warrants for failing to comply with a recognizance.

The women was arrested and transported to the Barrie Police Station and brought before a drug recognition officer, and found to be impaired by drugs.

The 23-year-old Barrie female has been charged with; impaired/care and control by drug, two counts of fail to comply with recognizance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

She will appear in bail court Thursday morning.
