Police are urging motorists to slow down, use full lighting and avoid any unnecessary travel.

After a brief January thaw, winter is back with a big dumping of snow and falling temperatures.

Environment Canada has ended the flash freeze warning for Barrie and area but brace for some frigid temps: wind chills are forecast for minus 27 overnight and minus 28 tomorrow.

OPP say they are responding to numerous collisions due to the deteriorating weather conditions.

Huronia West OPP are currently investigating a two-vehicle collision on Highway 26 between Horseshoe Valley Road and George Johnston Road in Springwater Township.  Police have this section of Highway 26 closed to aid in investigation.

Walking is also slippery with snow-covered slush so be careful out there.
