Wind advisory is over and clean up underway

Fallen trees and power outages have emergency crews working hard across the region.

Envionment Canada has ended the high wind advisory issued earlier today, and many homes are still without power across the region.

Power outages have been reported across Simcoe County and Muskoka today, as the wind warning continues.

PowerStream reported about 2,300 customers in the Barrie area without power, including close to 800 in the Minet's Point area.

About 250 homes were still without hydro this afternoon, as crews worked to repair wires hit by down trees and high wind. 

It is expected that power will be restored by 2 p.m.

Oro-Medonte Deputy Fire Chief Rob Jermey said there are reports of wires down at Warminster Sideroad, Eight Mile Point, Line 8, Line 6 and Bass Lake Sideroad, Line 7 and Moonstone Road, Line 10 and Warminster Sideroad, Line 2 and Old Barrie Road.
