SIMCOE COUNTY DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

Mr. Stephen Bertelsen, Area Consultant for Special Education, was honoured by Simcoe Community Services with an Inclusion Excellence Award. The award was presented on June 21 during the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB)’s Special Education staff meeting.

“Stephen shows compassion and respect every day for individuals with intellectual disabilities", says Jamie Hall, Stakeholder Relations Manager, Simcoe Community Services. “His innovation and creative thinking, and his ability to see possibilities and opportunities foster an atmosphere of inclusion in education. He is a most-deserving recipient of the 2016 Simcoe Community Services Inclusion Award.”

Chris Samis, Superintendent of Education for Area 3C and Special Education adds, “The commitment that Stephen demonstrates to enhancing the lives of students with special needs makes him very worthy of this recognition. He is trusted by families, is an empathetic listener and exemplifies many of SCDSB’s character attributes.”
