Snow boarders will get a jump on winter at Georgian College's Jibfest on October 31.

There won't be any ghosts or goblins, but there will be lots of fun at Georgian College this Halloween, as Jibfest, an annual student-run ski and snowboard slide jam returns to the Barrie Campus.

Riders from across Ontario will converge at the day-long event, to showcase their talents in preparation for the upcoming season.

Participants compete for prizes as they demonstrate their biggest and most stylish tricks.

Georgian’s Snow Resort Operations students fundraise, manage, and run the entire competition as part of their curriculum.

“JibFest is the original grassroots rail jam,” says student organizer Alex Mattie. “It was all about fun when it started in 2000 and that’s our focus for Jibfest 2015. Whether you’re coming to compete, just to ride or to dress up and watch.”

Jibfest 2015 takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The entry fee for riders is $40.

A barbeque lunch and refreshments will be provided. Prizes will be also be awarded for best costume.
