ADJALA-TOSORONTIO - On Friday, December 4, 2015 at approximately 3:20 p.m., a member from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrols on County Road 50 near 20 Sideroad of Adjala-Tosorontio Township.

The officer observed a motor vehicle travelling northbound on County Road 50 and proceeded to pass by a school bus that was stopped in the southbound lane with its red signal-lights flashing.

The officer conducted a vehicle stop and charged the driver of the motor vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, 57 year old Antanas ABRAMAVICIUS, of Toronto, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with fail to stop for school bus.

This offence upon conviction carries a $490 fine.

The Nottawasaga OPP takes the safety of our children very seriously.

As a reminder to motorists, when you see a stopped school bus with its overhead red signal-lights flashing, you must stop before reaching the bus and must not proceed until the overhead signal-lights have stopped flashing.
