Ever think it would be cool to have a street named after you? Imagine directing people to a road bearing your family name? Here's your chance.

The Town of Innisfil is auctioning off one opportunity to name a street in a new subdivision during the Spirit of the Community Dinner and Auction on November 12. Naming rights will go to the highest bidder in the live auction, so you have to be at the event to participate. Proceeds benefit a variety of local groups through a community grant program.

"Our community grant programs are very popular with our residents and we are heavily dependent on our Spirit of the Community gala and other fundraising efforts," said Deputy Mayor Lynn Dollin. "The street naming auction is a fun new idea to help us raise funds and increase ‎excitement for the event."

Mayor Gord Wauchope says adding the unique live auction item has sparked excitement ... and he thinks "Wauchope Way" has a nice ring to it.

The event takes place Thursday, Nov. 12 at the new lakeshore branch of the Innisfil Public Library. Tickets are $75 each and include a buffet dinner, live entertainment, live auction and raffles.

Visit innisfil.ca for more information or to purchase tickets.
