BARRIE - The City of Barrie has plenty of events and activities planned to keep you and your family busy this Family Day (Monday, Feb. 20). The holiday will also affect certain services. Here is what residents need to know this Family Day:
Family Day Winter Adventure at the Barrie Community Sports Complex (2100 Nursery Road, Midhurst) 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – The City of Barrie is hosting the 3rd annual Family Day Winter Adventure, offering free interactive, outdoor activities that will encourage you and your family to get out and enjoy winter. Bring your own sled and try out the child-friendly toboggan hill. Enjoy horse-drawn sleigh rides, snow soccer, Frisbee golf, broomball, skating, and more.
Indoor Family Fun – The City is also offering plenty of indoor fun on Family Day, with a full schedule of activities at Allandale, East Bayfield, and Holly Community Centres. Drop into any of the three centres between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. to enjoy a variety of activities, including:
Free skating at Holly Community Centre from 1 - 3 p.m. (sponsored by MPP Ann Hogarth)
$2 swimming at Allandale from 1 – 5 p.m. Check out the underwater photo booth and try snorkelling between 2 - 4 p.m.

Curbside Collection: There will be no garbage, organics, or recycling collection on Family Day in Barrie. Collection during the week of this holiday will occur one day later for the remainder of the week. Visit here for details.
City Hall will be closed.
Parking: Downtown parking (on-street and lots) is free on all statutory holidays. Waterfront parking is enforced 24/7/365; residents must display their permits and visitors are required to pay $3/hour (daily maximum: $15). Visit here for details.
