Baycats' win streak reaches five 

BURLINGTON – The Barrie Baycats' win streak reached five with a 7-1 win over the Burlington Herd Sunday afternoon at Nelson Park. 

Jordan Castaldo, Kevin Atkinson and Anderson Green all hit two-run home runs in the win, which pushed Barrie to 10-6. Steve Lewis added a solo shot in the Baycats' five-run fifth. 

Brandon Dhue and Kyle DeGrace had two hits and a run apiece, and Ryan Rijo singled twice. 

Santos Arias (3-1) scattered four hits over seven innings, allowing one run. He walked two and struck out five. 

Robbie Cant had an RBI double for Burlington, which fell to 4-12. Vaughn Bryan went 2-for-4 with a stolen base. 

Rich Corrente (0-4) took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings. He walked one and struck out two. 

Tebbit pitches Red Sox past Majors 

LONDON – Graham Tebbit held London to one run over 7.1 innings as the Brantford Red Sox beat the Majors 4-1 Sunday afternoon at Labatt Park. 

Tebbit (2-1) scattered four hits and walked four with two strikeouts. Tyler Gillies threw a scoreless ninth for his third save. 

Offensively, Nic Burdett's two-run single in the eighth inning gave the Red Sox some insurance. 

Wilson Soriano and David Mendham drove in the other runs, while Blake Bauer went 3-for-4 with two runs. 

Brantford improved to 5-8. 

Chris McQueen had the Majors' lone RBI. Keith Kandel and Jacen Nalesnik each had two hits. 

London dropped to 9-6. 

Starlin Peralta (2-1) took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits over eight innings. He walked one and struck out eight. 

Panthers' offence too much for Cardinals

KITCHENER – Seven different Kitchener Panthers drove in at least one run in a 15-3 win over the Hamilton Cardinals Sunday afternoon at Jack Couch Park. 
Yorbis Borroto and Keegan Marsden each had three hits and two RBI. Borroto scored twice and Marsden plated one run. 

Colin Gordner went 2-for-4 with two runs, Tanner Nivins singled, homered and drove in a pair of runs while scoring four times. Brian Burton had two RBI, Mike Gordner singled, doubled and drove in three, Ryan Douse had an RBI and a run, and Chris Iltshishin added a pinch-hit solo blast. 
Noelvis Entenza (3-0) went seven innings and gave up three runs on six hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. 

Jake Foden led the Cards with a double and solo home run. Grant Arnold hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the fifth. Kyle Blackwell singled twice. 

Josh Freeman (3-1) took the loss, giving up six runs on eight hits in 4.2 innings. He walked three and struck out three. 
First-place Kitchener improved to 12-4, and Hamilton dropped to 4-8. 

Mohan drives in five as Royals crown Leafs 

TORONTO – Ethan Mohan had four hits and five RBI to lead the Guelph Royals to an 11-7 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Sunday afternoon at Christie Pits.
Mohan finished a triple short of the cycle after two singles, a double and home run at the top of the lineup. He also scored three times. 

Jeff MacLeod went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI, and Matthew Pilarczyk singled, homered and scored twice. Darius Barlas had two hits and three runs. 

Edwin Javier (2-3) pitched into the ninth inning, giving up seven runs (five earned) on nine hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Yunior Yambatis recorded the last two outs for his first save. Yambatis gave up one hit and struck out one. 

Guelph improved to 6-9. 

For Toronto, Marcus Knecht and Grant Tamane each went 2-for-5 with two RBI. Knecht hit his third home run of the season. Jonathan Solazzo drove in two and scored once, Zac Orchard had an RBI, and Greg Carrington had two hits and two runs. 

Pedro De Los Santos (2-1) took the loss, giving up nine runs (five earned) on seven hits over two innings of relief. He struck out three. 
Toronto starter Zach Sloan gave up a run over three innings. He scattered four hits and struck out four. 
The Leafs fell to 9-6.

Herd capitalizes on Cardinals' errors in win 

BURLINGTON – The Burlington Herd took advantage of two Hamilton errors to score three runs in the eighth inning of a 5-4 win over the Cardinals Saturday afternoon at Nelson Park. 

Hamilton made four errors overall, and two on one play in the eighth allowed the Herd to tie the game as Mattingly Romanin and Vaughn Bryan crossed the plate to make it 4-4. Burlington took the lead for good when Andrew Mercier's one-out single scored Canice Ejoh. 

Vaughn and Ejoh each hit solo home runs and scored two runs apiece. Cooper Lamb singled twice and doubled. 

Kyle Symington (1-0) picked up the win, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings. He scattered two hits and didn't register a strikeout or walk. Jack Liddell started and went six innings, giving up two runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts. 

For Hamilton, Connor Bowie went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Grant Arnold and Jake Chiaravalle each drove in a run, while Laine Renaud and David Vanderby had two hits apiece. 

Arman Lakhani (0-2) took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits in one-third of an inning. He walked one and didn't record a strikeout. Starter Chris Lazar went seven innings and gave up two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. 

Burlington improved to 4-11, and Hamilton dropped to 4-7. 

Royals beat Majors in walk-off 

GUELPH – Justin Interisano's one-out double in the bottom of the ninth scored Sean Reilly to give the Guelph Royals a 5-4 walk-off win over the London Majors Saturday night at David E. Hastings Stadium.

Interisano finished 3-for-5 and also had a solo home run as Guelph improved to 5-9. 

Darius Barlas had two hits and two RBI in the win. His fielder's choice in the eighth inning scored Adam Rossit and pulled the Royals to within a run. Guelph tied the game a batter later when Brendan Keys scored on a wild pitch. 

Jeff MacLeod singled twice.

Ben Reid (1-0) recorded the last four out for the win. He walked one and struck out two without allowing a hit. Yomar Concepcion started and went 7.2 innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on seven hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. 

Byron Reichstein, Evan Britt and Matt Hexter each had a hit and RBI for the Majors, who dropped to 9-5. Jacen Nalesnik singled, doubled and scored a run. 

Kelvin Pichardo (1-1) took the loss. He went 1.1 innings and yielded three runs (one earned) on one hit with two walks and a strikeout. Starter Owen Boon lasted seven innings and gave up two runs on seven hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Friday night report

Baycats beat Red Sox twice 

BRANTFORD – The Barrie Baycats finished off one win before beating the Brantford Red Sox for a second time Friday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium. 

Before their game Friday, which was rescheduled from an earlier rainout, the teams finished a suspended game from June 3 in Brantford. Tied 3-3 in the top of the eighth at the time, Barrie scored five runs in the ninth inning nearly two weeks later for an 8-3 win. 

Brett Lawson pitched 1.2 innings for the win, while Tyson Gillies took the loss. 

In the second game, Glenn Jackson went 3-for-6 and drove in a four runs in a 7-3 victory. Jackson doubled twice and singled. Steve Lewis had two doubles and a solo home run. Kyle DeGrace singled twice, and Carson Burns added an RBI. 

Emilis Guerrero (5-1) went the distance, scattering five hits and allowing three runs (two earned) while walking one and striking out nine. 

For Brantford, Nic Burdett doubled and drove in a run. Marco Bandiera also doubled, and David Mendham singled and scored. 

Euclides Leyer (0-3) took the loss, giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits in four innings of relief. He walked one and struck out nine. 

Red Sox starter Matt Martinow lasted five innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits with three walks and two strikeouts. 

Barrie improved to 9-6, and Brantford dropped to 4-8. 

Majors use 19-hit attack to beat Herd 

LONDON – The London Majors' offence came to life in a 134 win over the Burlington Herd Friday night at Labatt Park. 

London (9-4) scored five runs in the first and one in the second and didn't look back. 

Jacen Nalesnik went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. He also scored three times. Carlos Arteaga and Chris McQueen each had two hits and an RBI, Byron Reichstein singled and added a solo home run, Keith Kandel went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Cleveland Brownlee drove in a run and scored once, Kyle Gormandy had an RBI and two runs, and RJ Fuhr singled twice and scored once. 

Majors starting pitcher Dylan Brooks (3-1) was the beneficiary, striking out 10 and walking two while scattering four hits over six scoreless innings. 

Justin Gideon had two hits, an RBI and two steals for the Herd, which dropped to 3-11. Canice Ejoh and Andrew Mercier each went 2-for-4 with a run, and Matt McCue added the other RBI. 

Ben Donnell (0-1) took the loss, allowing eight runs (six earned) on eight hits over four innings. He walked seven and struck out four. 

Panthers claw back to beat Cards 

WELLAND – Five unanswered runs were enough for the Kitchener Panthers to dig out of an early hole and edge the Hamilton Cardinals 5-3 Friday night at Welland Stadium. 

After falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Panthers tied the game with three runs in the fourth and added single runs in the sixth and seventh. 

Brian Burton's third home run of the season highlighted a three-hit game in which he drove in two and scored twice. Mike Gordner singled twice and doubled, and Tanner Nivins had the other RBI. 

Christian Hauck (4-0) picked up the win, giving up three runs (none earned) on nine hits with 11 strikeouts and three walks over six innings. 

Miguel Lahera pitched two scoreless innings for his third save. Lahera scattered two hits and struck out two without issuing a walk. 

For Hamilton, Kyle Blackwell had two RBI. Jake Foden drove in the other run. 

Grant Arnold, Chris Beer and Jon Dziomba had two hits apiece. 

Zackary Gonzalez (0-3) took the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in 1.2 innings of relief. He walked two and struck out two. 

Cards starter Krystien Johnson-Battilana was pulled with one out in the fifth after giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits. He walked three and struck out three. 

Kitchener improved to 11-4, and Hamilton dropped to 4-6.
