Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Barrie, Orillia and Midland warning of the possiblity of freezing rain later tonight and into Sunday morning.

A low pressure system originating from the American southwest is expected to bring a mixed bag of wintery weather into Southern Ontario Saturday night into Sunday.

Rain is expected to develop Saturday evening and continue throughout much of the night before switching to some freezing rain in some areas later Saturday night.

Freezing rain is expected to end Sunday morning.

Environment Canada says travel conditions will likely deteriorate overnight Saturday with any freezing rain but due to previously mild temps, impacts on roads may not be severe with only minor freezing.

There may be some icy roads on untreated surfaces.
