NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF BARRIE
*************************
In partnership with arts organization Mural Routes, the city is virtually offering a series of mural-making workshops for Simcoe County artists.

“Murals are an essential part of public art and placemaking and have been used for recent projects in Barrie, including The Container Project and the Downtown Mural Project,” says Stephannie Schlichter, director, economic and creative development.

“Artists who complete this workshop series will have an opportunity to be listed on the city’s public art roster for consideration when developing future projects.”

There is a $50 fee to attend the workshop series, and the series covers the following topics related to mural making: project management, materials and techniques in mural making and digital design for mural making. The workshops will be held virtually Feb. 9, 16 and 23, each from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Participants can learn more about the series here, or register for the series online by Feb. 1 here.

This initiative is supported by the Barrie Public Art Committee.
