Video captures dramatic crash into Barrie dealership

OPP sergeant says 44-year-old Barrie man was at the wheel and two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries
2022-01-18 Hwy. 400 crash Barrie Chrysler
This screen capture from a video posted to Twitter shows a vehicle southbound on Highway 400 in Barrie leave the road and strike several vehicles at a local dealership.

Dramatic video shows a car careening off Highway 400 southbound into a dealership lot full of vehicles on Friday.

OPP confirmed the driver lost control at about noon at the Dunlop Street exit.

The video shows the vehicle mounting a dividing median instead following the curve from the ramp onto Dunlop Street.

It then heads straight into the Barrie Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram lot right into a row of what appears to be Jeeps.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a 44-year-old Barrie man was at the wheel and two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

No information about charges or cause of the crash was available.

The dealership’s general manager, Christy Fines, declined comment when contacted by BarrieToday on Tuesday.

The Barrie car dealership has had a similar experience in the past. A small Pontiac crashed through the dealership fence, striking a blue Jeep for sale on the lot in December 2018. In that crash, a woman was taken to local hospital with "relatively minor injuries."
