Vehicle hits hydro pole, driver charged with impaired

On Tuesday, April 26, 2016 just after midnight police responded to the area of Essa Road and Gowan Street, in the City of Barrie after receiving a report of a single motor vehicle collision.

Upon arrival police located the vehicle that had travelled off the roadway, struck a hydro pole and came to rest on a fire hydrant.

The driver, a 28-year-old Barrie woman was arrested for impaired driving and transported to RVRHC as a pre-caution.

While in custody she provided breathe samples and was deemed to be twice over the legal limit.

The woman now faces an over 80 and impaired by alcohol charge as well as a 90-day licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.

She will appear in a Barrie court in May.
