Vehicle clocked going 99 before crashing into two brand new trucks, say police

On August 10, at approximately 11 p.m., Midland Police Service were conducting speed enforcement on King St. in the town of Midland.

A vehicle was observed travelling at a rate of speed.

The officer observed a speed of 99 km/h on the speed measuring device.

The officer activated the emergency lights and siren on the police car in attempt to stop the vehicle.

The suspect vehicle drove through a red light at then continued at a high rate of speed towards Hwy 12.

The officer observed the suspect vehicle travel though a second red light at which point he did not stop.

The officer assessed the situation and for public safety reasons, discontinued his attempt to stop the vehicle.

A short time later, complaints were received from the public of a vehicle that had just struck several brand new trucks at a local car dealership.

Police attended the scene and observed the vehicle that had sped past the officer had lost control and drove off the roadway and into two new vehicles.

At the scene the officer could smell the odour of alcohol on the suspect driver.

The driver was arrested and charged with several Criminal Code Offences.

The male suspect was released from custody with a court date of August 25, 2016 at 9:30 a.m., in the Midland Court of Justice.
