Police arrest four more individuals
(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) - On February 1, 2013 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Temiskaming Crime Unit were called to investigate a fraud surrounding the restoration and sale of a vacant commercial property on Lakeshore Road, Haileybury.
This lengthy investigation has been ongoing for approximately three years. The police have charged a total of five individuals.
On October 28, 2015 the remaining four individuals have been arrested and are facing several charges under the Criminal Code (CC).
Grant Erlick, 43, of Toronto is charged with:
- Participation in Criminal Organization – section 467.11 CC
- Fraud Over $5000 – section 380(1)(a) CC (nine counts)
- Obtaining by False Pretence – section 362(1)(a) CC (two counts)
- Uttering Forged Document – section 368(1)(a) CC (13 counts)
- Forging Trade Mark – section 407 CC
- Make False Statement in Writing – section 362(1)(c) CC
- Not Being Permitted Knowingly Make False Statement - section 134 CC (three counts)
Troy Wilson, 43, of Barrie is charged with:
- Participation in Criminal Organization – section 467.11 CC
- Fraud Over $5000 – section 380(1)(a) CC (11 counts)
- Fraud Under $5000 – section 380(1)(b) CC
- Obtaining by False Pretence – section 362(1)(a) CC
- Forging Trade Mark – section 407 CC (two counts)
Masouhmeh Shaer-Valaei, 45, of Richmond Hill is charged with:
- Participation in Criminal Organization – section 467.11 CC
- Fraud Over $5000 – section 380(1)(a) CC
- False Pretence – section 362(1)(a) CC (two counts)
Laila Alizadeh, 48, of Thornhill is charged with:
- Participation in Criminal Organization – section 467.11 CC
- Fraud Over $5000 – section 380(1)(a) CC
- Obtaining by False Pretence – section 362(1)(a) CC (two counts)
- Obtain Credit by False Pretences or Fraud – section 362(1)(b) CC
The listed accused will appear on January 26, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury.
