The annual Spring into Clean events which were planned for this weekend are being postponed by a week to allow time for the snow and ice to melt. The new dates for events are below:

Saturday, April 28, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Waterfront Cleanup Day (Heritage Park)

Friends, family and neighbours are encouraged to come out and clean up Barrie's waterfront area. Supplies will be provided, as well as beverages and snacks by Tim Hortons. Registration is not required for the Waterfront Cleanup Day.

April 28 and 29: Community Cleanup Days

Remember to use the official Spring into Clean collection bags, which will ensure that the garbage you pick up is collected on Monday, April 30.

Friday, April 27: Student Participation Day

April 27 to 29: Corporate Cleanup Days

A Spring into Clean flag raising ceremony was supposed to take place at City Hall on April 16, but was cancelled due to the weather. This flag raising has been rescheduled for April 23 at 1 p.m.

Spring into Clean is sponsored by Tim Hortons and garbage collection is donated by Waste Connections of Canada. The Spring Into Clean events are designed to clean up our community, while raising levels of environmental awareness and social responsibility. Last year, the events saw 19,141 participants collect over 7.5 tonnes of litter across 159,328 sq meters of the City.
