NEWS RELEASE
SIMCOE MUSKOKA DISTRICT HEALTH UNIT

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) has placed 10th Line Park Beach/Leonard’s Beach (2715 Purvis St.) in Innisfil under a new swim advisory.

The following beaches remain under a swim advisory:

  • 9th Line Park Beach (2407 Leonard Street)
  • Beaches 2, 3, 4 and 5 at Innisfil Beach Park North (676 Innisfil Beach Rd.)

The swim advisory at Beach No. 1 at Innisfil Beach Park South (676 Innisfil Beach Rd.) has been lifted following routine sampling by SMDHU.

An advisory is a warning to swimmers, but it is not a beach closure. During an advisory, the beach is posted with warning signs when the water contains levels of bacteria that indicate there may be an increased risk of developing minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness. You may still choose to swim during an advisory, but it is best to avoid swallowing the water or dunking your head underwater.

Testing is done at least weekly by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, and the results are posted on their website: simcoemuskokahealth.org/Topics/SafeWater/BeachWater/BeachPostings.
