Two men arrested on human trafficking charges

Two men are facing human trafficking charges following an investigation by the OPP Highway Safety Division Crime Unit.

Police say the charges stem from incidents that are alleged to have occurred in a number of hotels in the Durham Region last month.

22-year-old Roman Culeanu of Bradford and 19-year-old Artem Sterekhov of Kleinburg are charged with trafficking in persons, advertising sexual services, utter threats, extortion and two counts of procuring.

The investigation is ongoing and police say they expect to lay more charges,

Due to a court imposed publication ban, no further details of the investigation will be released, police said.
