R.I.D.E program

On Wednesday December 6, 2017 shortly before 10 pm Traffic Unit officers
conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Mapleview Drive in Innisfil did not have
to wait too long in the cold wind and blowing snow, before making two
separate arrests for Impaired driving. Within 15 minutes of setting up on
Mapleview Drive,  officers arrested two drivers and brought them in to the
station for further tests.

Charged with Impaired driving and Over 80 mgs, & Driving with open liquor
is a 59 year old man from Innisfil. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days
and his drivers licence automatically suspended for 90 days.  He will now
have a date with a Criminal Court Judge to answer to the charges.

The other man, a 25 year old, also from Innisfil, was found to be in the
WARN range and was not charged criminally. His vehicle was impounded and
his licence suspended for 3 days.

Officers will continue to be out all season long looking for drivers who
are impaired by drug or alcohol.

There is no excuse for drinking and driving. YOU always have an option.
Make the right decision. Call a friend, call a taxi or ride service, or
just stay over.
