The one-year anniversary of Tracey Baker's ownership of Zu Zu Fashion Boutique was marked with a call from her alarm company at 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

A drunk man had stumbled backwards and smashed through the front of the Dunlop Street shop.

"He was taken to hospital with a back full of glass, police filed a report but it was deemed an accident so no charges were laid," said Baker outside the shop on Sunday.

Facing a possible replacement cost of about $4,000 and an ugly piece of wood in her storefront for the next week, Baker put on a creative face.

She grabbed brushes and with the help of Canvas and Cabernet shop owner Cyndi Taylor, the downtown merchants went to work painting the Eiffel Tower on the boarded up storefront in the 30-degree plus heat.

Baker called it a "temporary art installation."

The window-breaking fall was captured on Baker's surveillance cameras and she says the man clearly had way too much to drink.

Baker says its not the first time this has happened to a downtown shop and she would like the man who broke her window to step up and accept responsibility.

"He could say 'I'm sorry' and maybe at least help offset the costs," said Baker, who adds it has yet to be determined who will pay to replace the window.
