Trying to turn around before a RIDE check? Not a good idea

ORILLIA – On Monday, December 14, 2015 at approximately 10:10 p.m., the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police was conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Checks (R.I.D.E) at Port Severn Road and St. Amante Road in Severn Township.  

Officers observed a vehicle attempt to avoid the RIDE checkpoint by turning around.

The vehicle was stopped a short distance down the road.

Michael SMITH, 31 years old of Red Deer Alberta, has been charged with Driving while Ability Impaired, Driving with more than 80 milligrams of Alcohol in Blood and Possession of Cannabis Marijuana.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear with a court date in Orillia on Tuesday, December 29, 2015.
