The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, will host the 2020 Virtual Campfire and Benefit Concert in support of YMCA Camp Kitchikewana on Aug. 27, 2020, at 7 p.m. This all-ages event is a way for the camp community to come together and celebrate through the classic camp tradition of song, virtually.

The virtual concert features an exciting lineup of award-winning musical performances by Paul Langlois of The Tragically Hip, Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls, and Juno-nominated Toronto band, Valley. There will also be performances from returning Camp Kitchikewana alumni acts, including folk duo, Fellow Camper.

Tickets are on sale for $25 per streaming device. Tickets can be purchased at www.ymcasm.ca/KitchikewanaConcert, and will be available until 4 p.m. the day of the concert, or while quantities last. All proceeds will support YMCA Camp Kitchikewana to ensure the continuation of high-quality camp experiences for generations to come. Those that cannot attend the virtual event are encouraged to make a donation to support the reopening of YMCA Camp Kitchikewana in 2021.

"Although we were disappointed that we were not able to open the Camp for the first time in 100 years, we are really excited for this opportunity to bring the camp community together. Music is an important part of camp, so coming together virtually for an evening of awesome music to support the Camp that we all love will be incredible," said Julia Fulton, Director, YMCA Camp Kitchikewana.

Camp Kitchikewana was not able to welcome youth to Beausoleil Island inperson this year, but they have found new ways to connect with campers and alumni. Their virtual campfires have become a staple event in the camp community, bringing together many generations of campers and alumni.
