Barrie Colts forward Jacob Tortora has six goals in five games since joining the team from the ranks of the NCAA, including a hat-trick performance on Thursday night at home to the Mississauga Steelheads.

The split their weekend with a 4-2 victory Thursday at the Barrie Molson Centre before falling 3-1 to the Owen Sound Attack on the road, Saturday night, at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.

With a win and a loss this weekend, the Colts are seventh in the Ontario Hockey League's Eastern Conference with a 14-12-1 record, which puts them two points up in the eighth-place Hamilton Bulldogs.

On Thursday at the BMC, Tortora powered the Colts to the win, with forward Aidan Brown also scoring what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Diminutive Colts forward Lucas Chiodo had three assists while defenceman Joey Keane added two helpers.

Barrie's Kai Edmonds picked up the win in net after turning aside 30 of 32 shots he faced, while Barrie native Jacob Ingham, who was tending goal at the other end for the Steelheads, allowed four goals on 40 shots to be pegged with the loss.

Mississauga goal scorers included Michael Little and Cole Carter.

Two nights later in Owen Sound, the Attack (15-11-1-2) peppered Barrie goalie Maksim Zhukov with 42 shots en route to a 3-1 win.

Barrie's lone goal was scored by captain Justin Murray, with Matej Pekar earning the only assist.

Owen Sound's goals were scored by Stouffville native Zachary Roberts, Kevin Hancock and Nick Suzuki, while Parry Sound native and former North Central Predators 'AAA' standout Aidan Dudas had an assist.

Suzuki, whose younger brother Ryan plays for Barrie, also picked up an assist in the victory.

Zhukov gave up three goals on 42 shots, while Owen Sound's Andrew MacLean earned the win after surrendering only one goal on 33 shots.

Barrie's next game is Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the BMC when they host the Oshawa Generals (17-8-2), who sit third in the conference.
