The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported three new COVID-19 cases and no deaths in today's update (July 22).
There are two new cases in Barrie, both are men between 18 and 34 years old. The transmission source for both cases is under investigation.
The third case is a Springwater Township resident also between 18 and 34 years old, whose case is linked to travel.
Meanwhile, the two Barrie cases reported yesterday have now also been linked to travel.
There are currently 22 active cases in the region.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,342 cases of COVID-19 with 12,065 of those cases recovered and 255 cases ending in death.
There are four people from Simcoe County hospitalized with COVID-19-related illnesses, with no new hospitalizations reported today.
The health unit has confirmed 4,975 variant cases in the region so far, with seven of those cases still active.
Fifty-one per cent of the region's total population is fully vaccinated, and another 17 per cent has one dose of a COVID vaccine. The remaining 32 per cent is unvaccinated, which includes children under 12 who are ineligible for a vaccine at this time.
Anyone aged 12 years or older living in Simcoe-Muskoka region can book their first or second dose of vaccine online via Ontario vaccine booking system. More appointments are added regularly for clinics throughout the region.
