On Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 6:15 p.m., police responded to a theft at Walmart, located on Bayfield Street, in the City of Barrie.

Upon arrival, loss prevention officers advised police they had arrested a male for theft under $5,000.

Loss prevention officers indicated they had identified the male as being responsible for two previous attempt thefts earlier in the day.

The male’s first attempt to steal was observed on video surveillance.

He was seen concealing several fishing lures and lines in reusable bags.

Prior to exiting the store he was spooked by Walmart staff, thus concealing the items into a nearby isle.

The male later returned to the store wearing a different jacket and now a toque.

He attended the electronics department and took merchandise out of the boxes and concealed it in a nearby isle.

He then exited the store.

He returned a third time to retrieve the fishing lures and electronics.

Upon exiting the store he was arrested by loss prevention.

Further investigation by Barrie Police found that the male had been on probation and was breaching his conditions.

The 49-year-old, Barrie male, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation x3.

The male will appear in bail court on Friday morning.
